Rendering a video shot on phone shrinks the image

super-x wrote on 6/30/2020, 7:39 AM

Hello there, I've shot a video on my phone vertically. I went on Vegas, edited it a little and tried different methods and settings of rendering, but no matter which I go for - the image itself shrinks further down, so not only the sides are black (as they always are with vertically-shot videos), but also the upper and lower parts of the video are black and the image is only in the center of the screen, like so: https://i.imgur.com/YhaJvmo.png

I am using a legal Vegas Pro 17 software, my GPU is a RTX 2080 Super, Windows 10, and I couldn't find a solution to my error anywhere here or elsewhere.

Thank you in advance.

Just on the off chance ... and assuming that the image looks okay on the timeline ... when you go to Render As and choose 'Customize Template', does the 'Frame size' option meet your rendering requirements.

Indeed

What is that meant to mean. Please explain. Are you saying that was the problem and it is now resolved?

That's all wrong.
When you have vertical video's of that format you have to

1. Set the project properties this way ( framerate I don't know)

2. Sometimes it is needed to rightclick on the file in Project Media to rotate the file for good view in the preview screen

3. Render to this template for smartphone
