First, I would like to thank all those who post here for helping me see where to start looking for a resolution to my problem.
I am using an Edirol FA-101, which I love. (In the interest of full disclosure, I don't work for Edirol, but my wife works for Roland - the parent company - however, I don't have a problem criticizing their products that I feel come up short. Just ask my wife, she'll tell you about the earful that she gets from time to time!).
I was having a problem rendering to an uncompressed AVI in Vegas 5.0b. I was getting an aviplug.dll error and Vegas would accept the "cancel" command that I clicked on but would just sit there and never recover. I had to do an "end task."
I turned off the FA-101 (it has a firewire interface) and the problem disappeared.
I don't know if this is a Vegas issue or an Edirol driver issue, but this "workaround" works for me.
