rendering audio (or lack of) glitch

I'm having some wierd render errors when I render (mpeg-2 is the only way i'm rendering right now because that's what the final output needs to be).

Occationatly, when I render a clip (about 30 seconds) I have audio missing in the first 10 seconds, or no audio at all. this doesn't happen all the time, only about 1 time out of 15 renders.

I'm using the standared mpeg-2 settings with the exception that the resolution is 640x480 & the bitrate is 5 mbs. Anyone know anything?

If you load the rendered file back into Vegas, is the waveform blank? If the waveform is good, what are you playing the files back with?

The wave is blank, and in the case where the audio doesn't start until about 10 seconds in, the 1st ten seconds are blank, and then the waveform is there.

What is the source material present on the timeline at the time of the empty render?

Yes, it was. There were other clips in the project that rendered fine. Also, when I was informed of the glitch I re-rendered the clip and it worked fine the 2nd time.

On a side note, I use Vegas at home too, and have never had this problem there.
