Your rendered video is standard definition, 4:3 format.
The youtube player is Widescreen 16:9 format.
The reason is that youtube accepts HD video up to 1920x1080.

Thank you for your reply, so, how do I fix it? What settings do I choose when I render?

Wow, this gets discussed a lot.

Search for terms like "letterbox" and "pillarbox" and "aspect ratio" to get you started. It's all simple shapes and geometry.

Basically 4:3 video will have bars left and right unless you crop it to fit a 16:9 format.
16:9 video will have bars all the way around if rendered to a 4:3 format. Your video contains examples of both formats rendered to 4:3.

Start with a Widescreen rendering template and learn from there.

Good luck.

I guess I searched for all the wrong words such as "rendering". I will do the searches you suggest and learn. Obviously I am new to Vegas but know what is correct when I see it but to do is another story altogether. Thanks for you help. I need a "Step-by-Step For Dummies" book. Have a great day.

No need to purchase a "Step by Step by Dummies" book.

You'll need to set the aspect ratio of the project first.
Go to File and select Properties.
Under Template click the aspect ratio of your project. In your case probobly 1280x720 aspect ratio.

Now edit your video clips to fit this aspect ratio and render.
An easy way to get the proper aspect ratio of your clips is to select Pan Crop and right click on the event and select Match Output Aspect.

Yes as Musicvid said this gets discussed a lot. (;
Nice bike ride btw.

Byron, Thanks for you input. I guess the Pan/Crop option is only available in the Vegas Pro because it is grayed out in my version (I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0).

I suppose I will have to play around with the aspect ratio in Properties, then render to YouTube and see what I get. It it's not right, delete it and try another one.

I do appreciate the suggestion and it was a nice bike ride. Don

Pan/Crop is definitely available in ALL versions of Vegas. Make sure you've selected the video portion of a clip, then Pan/Crop should be accessible.
