Rendering Closed captions

Hey All,

I have imported an SRT file and have the blue markers, selected an overlay so I can view the CC, but when I render, it does not show up. This isn't for disc authoring - it's for the web. Is there some way to convert the CC markers so they appear on screen and will show up when rendering?

Thanks in advance.

The web does not use the type of Closed Captions that are created within the video. It normally uses special XML files that are linked to the video. If you are uploading to youtube, there are instructions on the web for that.

CC is used in DVDs or for TV broadcast.

If you look under TOOLS>SCRIPTING, there are some options for exporting subtitles for various formats.

Closed Captioning for multi-media is very different than closed captioning for broadcast. What you have done is prepared your project for broadcast. You need to open the Help file and look up closed captioning and read about using TEXT markers for adding captions for web distribution (i.e., wrong markers). :(

Vegasaur Text Wizard can render SRT files and closed captions as well.

You can use this script to export region names as YouTube subtitles (.sbv file) or as .srt, .sub or .txt.

Put it in your C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 13.0\Script Menu\ folder or equivalent.
