Rendering crashes at 55%

tom_beginner_edits wrote on 5/12/2014, 4:15 AM
Ok when ever i render over the past weekend i get to the 55% mark and it just stops rendering. This is only a recent thing as it normally works fine.
lets just give you something i use. i do not know if html links work on here but
[spoiler][link]http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/Acer_E1_-Intel_Core_i5-3110__4GB_500GB__Win_8__NX.M09EK.002/version.asp[link][spoiler]

that is what i have in my laptop. just incase it doesnt show its a win 8 64 bit laptop with intel core i5 and a 2.3ghz with 3.5 ghz usable, 4gb ddr3-sdram,

i use movie studio to render in wmv 720p or 1080p depending on what the input to my recording device is. I sometimes use mp4 or mov 720p 1080p.
because i have no idea what the others mean in the software.
This crashing happens when its a hour video or a 30 min or 10min or even a 1 min video so its not like its handling to much data to render.

i have installed the may 5th update and nothing helped i uninstalled the software from my computer and deleted everything to do with in=t so when i re-installed there were no bad files (if any) and still nothing i left it last night to render a 2.39 min video and woke up to think it would have been done but 9hrs later it was stuck at 55% still responding so it never crashed

any help on this would be great because i use it alot

What format is the input file? Post the text view from MediaInfo (free download).

Project settings?

If it worked before, is it just this one file or multiple files?

Is your system overheating, are you running a utility to watch the temp if your are using stock cooler/over clocking?
MSmart wrote on 5/14/2014, 11:25 PM
I would think overheating issues would manifest itself with system crashes/BSODs, not hangs. Well... he does say crashing but I think he meant hangs.

Any effects or stills in the project? If so, try disabling.

This reads a bit like an issue I had a while ago - with DVDArchitect Studio, when updated the Build number.
See below "Registry"
Now I'm not saying it was Sony's fault, Nor Microsoft, but it does seem that some Updates are best left alone . . . . but we'll never know.
Maybe OP should check their updates - although the last new-build seemed to fix all problems - it is odd that I wasn't offered that build when I updated the software . . . but then maybe Sony was spending lots of time trying to resolve the issues. However, as soon as complaints emerge, you'd think the new-build would be put in quarranteen - but then it may be far too complex, with all the PC-hardware possibilities....yet I suspect (but cannot now for sure), that it was entirely predictable.
My DVDAS works OK now . . .
Registry,
however, it required my Dealer to extract lots of files related to DVDAS in the Registry. It seems that removing the old install does not clear all the references in Registry . . . now I don't understand "why not" but my Dealer was able to find dozens of old-references . . . once cleared the new-build was installed and this fixed all problems - Wow was I pleased.
I repeat this story only as it might throw some light on why the new-build isn't fixing the issue.
I understand that the Registry is a veritable minefield and should only be cleansed if you are conversant with the implications of any changes.
Good luck.

MediaInfo is a separate program you can find on the Internet. After you install and launch it, open your video file with it and go to View > Text. Click and drag down from the top left corner, right click and choose copy. Then paste here.

Sorry, I could have been more clear. In VideoReDo, use Tools > Quick Stream Fix.

When the dialog box comes up, click the three dots button on the Output Stream section, after choosing filename and destination, use the file type of MPEG2 Transport Stream (*.ts). Then Start Quick Fix.

This will give you a new file with the same format as the input file with no conversion, just the "time stamps in the output file, such as PTS and GOP headers, will be re-calculated.

You should now be able to do your render in MS.
