Rendering Custom Templates

Ivey-League-Films wrote on 4/14/2020, 2:42 PM

Please take a look at the attached video. I have purchased and upgraded from VP15 to VP17, by downloading it on vegascreativesoftware. In VP15, I was able to create a custom template for a 4096x2160p, 23.976fps, and 0.9375 pixel aspect ratio rendering. However, in VP17, it won't let me do it and save it as a favorite. Why is this?

I think that template is not possible in VPro 17 due to the pixel a.r. you want to choose.

I just went in to see if that was the issue. I did the same steps except I left the pixel aspect ratio set to the default of 1.000 and it still won't let me save it or render it as 4096x2160p. As a matter of fact, I can't find any setting that will let me do that. I also just uninstalled and reinstalled the program to see if that was the issue and it's still a problem.

Here is another video showing how there are no options, anywhere, for 4096 x 2160p rendering. Is there some setting that is turned off, not allowing that as an option that I am missing???

I tried it also in VPro 15 and VPro 17.
In 15 no problem to render with your settings and making that preset
In 17 no preset possible and rendering gave immediatly an error.
IN 17 it was possible to make that preset for Magix HEVC but error while rendering, the same error as with Magix AVC.

How absolutely strange and troubling. 4096 x 2160p is a pretty common standard! Why would that not be an option anymore?

I tried creating a Video for Windows custom template at 4096x2160 and was unable to save it. This is a limitation imposed by an Internal setting (which I have been unable to find) or bug in Vegas Pro 17-421.

I was able to render 4096x2160-23.976p from Vegas Pro17-421 using Happy Otter Scripts Render Plus with no drama.

@Ivey-League-Films

Try setting your Project Properties to 8192x4320. Doing so allowed me to create and use custom templates in Vegas 17-421. Since I don't use those pixel dimensions, my interest is purely academic. This behavior started with the introduction of 8K in Vegas 17.

Thank you for confirming what I was having trouble with John and j-v! That makes me feel better to know it isn't just me. Since I am new here in regards to troubleshooting, how do we alert Magix to this issue so they know to fix the bug or setting in their next update? Will they already be notified from this post or what?

This is a Vegas bug. As an alternative to solve your problem momentarily, you can use the Happy Otter Scripts renderer or the Voukoder renderer. They will work perfectly.

Happy Otter Scripts is in the Beta version, but it is fully functional. Voukoder is free and also totally functinal with Vegas.

Happy Otter Scripts download here: https://tools4vegas.com/8uhdmflg/

Voukoder download here: https://www.voukoder.org/

@john_dennis....I just tried your suggestion of changing the project settings to 8K and you were right. When I do that, the option for 4096 x 2160 then appears in the rendering settings. I guess I will have to wait till Magix fixes this bug on their next update for me to render the proper way.

@joelsonforte.br....thank you for these temporary fixes. I have heard of Happy Otter Scripts, but never tried it. I will certainly take a look at it and give it a try until Magix fixes this bug. Will they be notified of this bug automatically from this post or do I need to notify them myself?

@Ivey-League-Films

Editing at 4096 x 2160 and changing your project settings to 8192x4320 at render time should allow you to move forward even in advance of a Magix code change.
