Rendering Difficulties

I've rendered a movie to AVCHD (.m2ts) format and tried to play it back on my pc. It starts OK but then the video starts to stutter and even stop, but the sound continues. The project file itself plays without interruption. I chose this format as it seemed to be the best quality.

Can you tell me why this might be? I don't know the ideal fomat to render it to. I want other people to be able to see it easily and so assume it should be something that can be easily played back on a pc.

AVCHD is not a delivery format.
What are your intended uses for the video?

I have experienced the same on a laptop with rather good specs (intel i7, 8 GB ram, solid state disk)

For this reason I render to MP4. This works better for me.

I recall it being mentioned some time ago that running the m2ts output from Movie Studio through TSMuxeR overcame this issue.

Thanks for your input musicvid10 (and others who have commented). As I suggested, I need to use a format that most people (friends and family) will be able to use, presumably to watch the video on their PC. What would be the best quality format for that?
