rendering error

I try to render a 2.10 hrs Vegas Pro 9 project of approx. 35GIG to be used for a 50GIG BD .
Blu Ray settings 1920x1080 24p 23.97 fps
Bitrate 31 Mbps variable
I use a 650 GB externa HD with 450 GB free space.

After 19 min of rendering ,a message comes up saying: an error occurred which could not be determined . , and rendering stops.
I tried to render 3 more times but the message comes up at 19 min of rendering.

I remember that the same error message once came up in a smaller rendering project, but in a second try it did not come back.

Is a 35 GIG project too big to be rendered at once ?

Any help appreciated !

I would look at the video and/or audio in the project at the time the failure occurs since the failure seems to be repeatable. See if there are any "solid color frames" or anything that looks unusual. Zoom in tight.

Have you checked where your temp folders and/or pagefile are located. See if a hard drive is filling up.

I recently did an experiment and determined that DVD Architect will recompress video to hold the average bit rate to 28 mbps for all data on a Blu-ray. See this link for more details.

So! Rendering at 31 mbps likely won’t pass DVD Architect without recompressing.

Sorry to be the messenger of bad news, but better to know now.

Thanks John.

I did not notice anything unusual in the Timeline at the point of failure.
My temp folder is in Windows on my C drive with 200GB free space

I remember a while ago in another thread, somebody suggested that my external drive should be converted from FAT32 to NTFS which is more secure.
My external drive is FAT32 formatted and I may change that to NTFS and will see if that helps.
