This project is still 655x480. I changed the width to 656.

I then customized the render setting as such:

It rendered with the video:

Ok, if you can see the media without the text track, then that takes me back to video card/driver.

You might also try going to Options - Preferences - Deprecated Features and turn on "Legacy Text"

Then try replacing that text event with a "Legacy Text" event to see if that makes a difference.

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:29 AM

ok @RogerS some of the source files were captured originally 1920x1080p even though they are SD resolution. That's why the project is set to SD let me see if I can fix it on my end and will report back thanks

jetdv wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:31 AM

Does the video always disappear when you add a text track?

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:33 AM

i turned on legacy text the other day i changed the project to 646x480

I'm keeping it at 59.97 etc from what I worked on with someone here last summer as I want all the videos digitized to be progressive not interlace.

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:33 AM

@jetdv yes BUT it appears in preview when playing it

jetdv wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:36 AM

Go to Help - Check for Driver Updates.

What does that screen show?

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:38 AM

no such menu item

Former user wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:43 AM

@Leon-Zetekoff What happens when you click Check For News,? That is where 'Check for Driver Updates' is in VP21,

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:49 AM

no news no vegas updates

i keep my system updated I can't believe this is a driver issue

jetdv wrote on 2/27/2024, 9:49 AM

Ok, it appears that was added in VEGAS Pro 18. We still need to know your video card and driver version:

In the Windows search bar, type "device" and then open the Device Manager. Go to Display Adapters and what options do you see there?

Then right-click any options you see there and choose "Properties". In the window that opens, click on the "Driver" tab. What does that say?

ok the text track was 655 so I changed it to 656x480 the blinking of the text disappeared but the rendering still only shows the text track. I will try legacy text later but I believe it's what i have now but will double check

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 11:22 AM

ok using legacy text does same thing. I am stumped

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 12:39 PM

i've tried using main concept encoder as well same thing instead of the intel QSV.

mark-y wrote on 2/27/2024, 2:16 PM

Your Intel graphics drivers are six years out of date.

You can update them using the item in the Vegas Help menu.

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 2:23 PM

@mark-y these are the latest drivers available.

and I said above there are no vegas updates either

@jetdv ok i converted the original MKV --> DVD format and them imported to the project and it looks like it is working. for some reason something is funky with the files I was using will report back more after I see the rendering

thanks

jetdv wrote on 2/27/2024, 2:29 PM

It appears there actually is a newer driver. Says it's for Windows 7/8.1, though and is still 3 years old.

I don't think it will make a difference in your case, though. I think the issue is the file format and it's probably easier to just convert them to another format. Glad to hear you're getting them to work that way.

Leon-Zetekoff wrote on 2/27/2024, 2:39 PM

i agree @jetdv i converted to .avi and had some issues. GOing to DVD seems to work will keep y'all posted. many thanks.

jetdv wrote on 2/27/2024, 3:34 PM

What format of AVI? DV-AVI works great in VEGAS if you're just doing SD.
