rendering problem?

Hi,
I'm a newbie to vegas and video production. I am very familiar with Sony Acid though so the buttons and workflow are very familiar. My problem is that I'm trying to render 5 parts of a video into one big part so I can use it in DVD architect. I've got all my editing finished and highlighted the loop points around my movie to be rendered. But, after rendering, it doesn't make it into one file, it makes 5 files. This is giving me trouble in DVD architect because I can't get it to "Play All" or be able to cut it into chapters. So I'm guessing that I'm doing something wrong in Vegas when rendering. Any suggestions?

I never tried to combine multiple rendered files into one file, but you can easily do what you want using five separate files. Once you bring all five files in DVD Architect, set the End action for the first file to play the second file, and so forth with the fourth set to play the fifth when it ends. The fifth then ends by going back to the main menu.

You have the entire "big part" on the timeline at once? You go to File / Render As once? It should be coming out as one single file. I can only think of a couple ways that you would get multiple files from one rendering operation. One is if you are rendering to DV .AVI intead of MPEG2 and your drive is formatted for FAT32. This would split the output file up into 4GB sections. These splits would come approximately every 18.7 minutes though, and wouldn't have anything to do with the 5 parts of your video.

The other possibility is that you have regions marked around each part and you use a batch render script instead of File / Render As.

If your problem is the first issue, render directly to MPEG2 instead of to DV .AVI (or convert your drive to NTFS). If it's the second issue, use File / Render As instead of the batch rendering script.
