Rendering Produced 7 Files, Markers only in first

Sony VMS 9 Plat rendered my 2-hour movie, creating 7 files, broken up in the middle of chapters. Each file has a number appended to my file name, 01, 02, 03... In DVD Architect, the first file, with no appended number, has all chapter markers in place. All the others have THE SAME chapter markers as the first file, in order, but marking nothing, because they don't belong there. The markers for all the last 6 files are gone, replaced with the markers from the first file. If I could delete these markers and add new ones, I could probably fix this, but I don't see how to do that. And each file begins in the middle of a chapter that was cut off in the previous file. So how do I make a menu structure with broken chapters? Is there a way to split these files at the end of chapters, or another way to salvage this mess?
Update: I found out how to delete markers, so I first just deleted the ones in the files where they did not belong. Ah, but that ALSO deleted them in the first file, where they are doing their job. So I deleted all markers from all files, then put back the ones in the first file. Second file, I added markers and noticed the same markers again from the first file. The program is inserting markers into files not open on the timeline. I delete markers from places they are not wanted, and the same marker is deleted from the first file where it is okay. Madness. My overview panel is full of red text, telling me Broken Chapter. Duh! It just gets crazier. Stay tuned for the sequel.

Is your drive formatted FAT32 perhaps? Fat 32 has a sizelimit of 4GB. When doing video, you should format you drive as NTFS, which is much more stable than fat 32.
Read more here: http://www.theeldergeek.com/ntfs_or_fat32_file_system.htm

Don't forget to choose NTFS when you buy a new drive. You can also change the format when a drive is already in use, but first read Window's helpfile carefully, or you may lose data.

Ivan123, I think you are right - a 28GB file has been broken up into seven smaller files, so that must be it. Thank you so much for that bit of insight. I was totally puzzled by this, and I even rendered it again last night - seven more files, just as before. But what a relief to know what the probable cause is, because at least now I have some things to try. Thank you again.
