Rendering Quicktime w/ Veg 64-bit is not possible?

Hi all-
I thought I would post this to see if anyone else had the same problem. Since moving to Vegas 64-bit exclusively since version 10 I have not been able to render Quicktimes. It always crashes at 13%.

My solution, which was rather unelegant, was to render an .AVI and then encode it using Quicktime Pro, if my client wanted a quicktime.

Today I thought I would just check, and I downloaded the 32-bit version of Vegas 11, and viola, it is rendering a quicktime no problem (at least it is at 22% right now...).

Maybe this has to do with Apples lack of support for 64 bit WIndows OS?

Does anyone else have this problem? I tried Quicktime current version, 7.6.2, as well as a couple older versions that other threads said were more stable. It would be nice to render straight from Vegas 11, 64-Bit, but I don't mind re-opening the project in 32-bit for rendering.

Hey Chap,

I understand your problem, rendering QT can be a real pain in Vegas. Just recently I had my 48 minute project in Vegas become corrupted and unable to open anymore because of the newest version of quicktime (7.7 I believe) and I had a lot of .MOV files on my timeline from After Effects. Luckily I had an autosaved project in my Vegas folders on my computer that autosaved before the corruption happened.

Regarding your problem, people on the forum pointed me in the direction of downloading Quicktime Lite: http://www.filehippo.com/download_quicktime_alternative/

which is a stripped down version of quicktime which is a decoder only, it cannot encode. Vegas still lags when trying to work with QT files after I installed this, but I have not had any crashes or corrupt projects since. So maybe give it a shot, at the risk of not using itunes until you finish your project because Itunes will not work without the newest version of QT. Hopefully this will help with your render problems as well. Do a clean uninstall of quicktime (registry, program files, etc.) and try installing QT Lite.

Long story short, I hope QT files become more native in Vegas and easier to work with because the playback on the timeline is laggy and I cannot preview it smoothly. I hope you figure out your problem.
