Rendering rotated video

Hey all,

I have a, iPhone video that a client wants to post on vimeo "portrait." If I set up my project rotated and render, it is still 16:9 and on its side. I want an ending video that is 720x1280. I looked online and they said that VLC media player will do it. I tried and it didn't seem to work.

Any help would be great.

what is the resolution of your video now?

720P. If I bring it in natively, I have a normal widescreen preview with the "portrait" aspect video centered in the window.

so right now it is 1280 wide and 720 high, but you want it 720 wide and 1280 high.

You can render it to that. But you will have to stretch the 720 to 1280 and then either crop or squeeze the 1280 to 720. If you squeeze, then things will look out of proportion. If you crop, then you lose parts of the image.

Set your project to 720 x 1280 and using PAN/CROP, position, crop and stretch your image how you want it to look. Then render to that same resolution.

You probably need to post stills to get the best advice. If it was shot with the 1280 as the vertical, and it looks sideways on the timeline, then you need to rotate it the right number of degrees using pan/crop, either 90 or -90, to get it to fit a 720w x 1280h project.
