Rendering slower in v17?

Has anyone noticed rendering to be slower in v17?

I do a lot of sports.. so I'm dealing with pretty much the same size/length a lot. in V16, rendering a soccer match with my custom template took about real time to render.. so roughly 90 minutes to render a 90 minute video.. give or take 5-10 minutes either way.

I just did one in v17 with the exact template and it took closer to 3hrs to render.

Template uses MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4 - settings:

Audio: 48 Kbps, 44,100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo, AAC
Video: 59.940 fps, 1920x1080 Progressive, YUV, 20 Mbps
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000

Anyone else see this? I may fire up v16 and render the same video to see what happens..

No, I saw the same or faster rendertimes depending on what codec is used.

Template uses MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4 - settings:Audio: 48 Kbps, 44,100 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo, AAC
Video: 59.940 fps, 1920x1080 Progressive, YUV, 20 Mbps
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000

Magix AVC/AAC is a type of render, but says nothing about the encoder used
What was it in !6 and what is it in 17 you used?
Look at the picture where to choose that encoder mode.

I'll double check - but I'm using the same template that I created in 16.. so it should be identical.

[edit] just checked.. and it is the same template using encode mode - AMD VCE

So I ran two more last night - and they were both right around 1:55 for a video that was about 1:30.. so probably not enough of a difference to worry about.

I am using a fairly ancient video card.. I know that the GPU acceleration can REALLY speed this up.. anyone have a recommendation on a decent one that will run silently? Either fully passive cooling, or fans off under low-load? I do audio primarily, so the video card doesn't get a workout, but I need silence.
