Work through this https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-stop-vegas-pro-hanging-or-crashing-during-rendering--104786/

Although written by Nick for Vegas Pro most (but not all) also applies to Vegas Movie Studio.

If you keep getting stuck at the same point I'd look closely at the media being used at that point and any FX being applied.

I checked the exact spot of where it crashes but I don't even have any FX applied? I'm not sure what's happening, this is the first time where one my projects gets stuck on render. :(

Hi, I raised EXACTLY the same issue few days back. My Rendering would stop exactly at 22 minutes. I have also referred to the guidelines provided however, i strongly object to any suggestion to switch off GPU rendering. We spend loads of money to get a hardware to quicken rendering processing. Switching it off takes approx 26 minutes of rendering time for each minute of video. this is not right... I have raised a ticket with Magix team also.

it gives me immense pain to say that Vegas is becoming bigger pain, after each release. i was so happy with it with version 12. It has gone downhill since then, with each release . I recently got desperate and bought Pro version 15. it was equally bad. every 2 out of 5 Stabilisation FX would crash ( no, my GH5 doesnt result in faulty videos ). My rendering used to crash. Preview was bit moddy. one day, it will show preview whilst rendering, other day, it wont. One day, preview would be smlooth ( preview(full), other day, it would be choppy... Worst part: you wont even see in preview screen, affect of applying fx, for example, Brightness and contrast... ( and no, the suggestion floating around to play with fx bypass icon didnt ork for me )I mean, how is it possible to edit if we cant even see preview... i expressed my anguish with Magix and the simply refunded my money. I was looking for a solution and not money but it seems they weren't keen.

it seems my hardware ( i7, 7th gen , 16 GB RAM, Nvidia 1050i, 512GB SDD ) were all at fault but nothing wrong with the software :-). Earlier, with version 12/13 ( i cant remember ), I was able to edit in Sony XAVS 4K video from my LUmix G7 using a very old, i7 (3rd generation ) with 8 GB RAM and an ordinary GPU very well. just that it used to take lot of time to render.. now, even a 10 minute of video editing and rendering appears like an achievement.. I am being made to feel sorry for having a NVIDIA card on my laptop

i think this software was better when it was part of Sony. Sorry, GUys, i dont mean to offense anyone but I wam very frustrated. we cant simply move away to a new software as my old projects are on vegas and we spend time learning a software. hence moving to another software would be the last option, but it seems very likely now.

Also, i strongly suggest you to report it to Magix. they should know that even others are complaining of the same issue.
