Rendering to mpeg?

I have read that I should render my video and my audio separately. So I did video mpg2 and AC-3 for audio.

So to render the video, I just muted all of my audio tracks and vice-versa. But it still creates an audio track for the mpg. Nothing's on it, but is this normal?

In the mpeg custom settings, you gotta unckech the "render audio" box in the audio tab. that'll stop rendering the audio.

Thanks. Now that I have rendered something with it, do I have to render it again?

no -- you can demux it apart ...

but -- depends what you are trying to do
