Rendering V.V. file to mov. format

I'm trying to render 3 minute section of my completed V.V. movie to mov. format so that it will play in Quicktime. It takes hours to process, then I get the error message that "Unknown error" has occurred during the processing. The same file renders for DV-output just fine. I know it's not rendering to mov. because when I reinitiate the process after the error message, it still takes hours. What's wrong with this picture?

Do you have the latest QuickTime Pro. They just came out with v6. I've done several mov's this week and they all work great and didn't take any longer than a wmv render.

Quicktime has many varieties of compression.

My guess is that you are trying to render QT movies uncompressed. This will take a long time and then be virtually unplayable. Plus the file will be huge, which may be why you are crashing, as QT fills up your hard drive.

Try a "default" Cinepak or Sorenson compression and see what happens. If that works, you can change some of the specs and see how things work.
