When rendering files for DVDA is it necessary to "save project markers in media file" for both the MPEG-2 file and the AC3 file? Does it matter either way?
Yes I do. But my question is: do I have to "save project markers in media file" for BOTH the MPEG-2 file and AC3 file, or will it work with project markers in just the MPEG-2 file?
If you use Vegas HD 10's Make Movie/Burn to DVD wizard with the Markers option checked, you won't have to worry about it. The program will automatically store the Markers where they're needed -- and will even load these files directly into DVD Archtiect Studio if you'd like!
Thanks for the reply Steve. I do know the Make Movie wizard would move the markers over to DVDA. However, I much prefer "Render as" since it gives me much more control such as 2 pass rendering.
I sort of answered my own question. I put the marker info in the MPEG-2 file but not the .AC3 file. I got them to appear in DVDA but with some difficulty. When opening a new project in DVDA I had to select "Single Movie" and add the menus manually. "Menu Based" would not bring in the markers and all the marker buttons were grayed out. I have seen this issue in other threads (maybe in other forums - I'm not sure).
I've never had any problem with having the markers in only the MPEG2 file. In fact, often it works fine even if the markers are only in the AC3 file.
There's a little icon over the timeline in DVDA, don't recall which one off the top of my head but you can find it by holding the mouse over each one, that loads markers from a file. If the markers didn't come in automatically you can click that, then point to the file that has the markers and DVDA will use them.
Like I said, in "Menu Based" mode those "icons" are grayed out.
That is correct. Double click on the video file in DVDAS that is under the menu to show it in the timeline, the icons are then available for use. The Load Markers icon is the one with a marker and open folder.
Thanks. I was dragging the MPEG-2 file from the explorer in DVDA to the timeline. When I selected the menu and went to Insert:Media that brought in the markers.
Dragging your MPEG file onto the timeline will set it as the menu background, rather than a title, although you can drag a file over an existing title to replace it..
