Rendred AVI won't open in WMP or VLC

MUTTLEY wrote on 5/27/2009, 12:37 PM

Rendering out a 1080p AVI for delievery to a client and though I can drag the rendered AVI onto the timeline it won't play in WMP and only plays like the first 10 seconds in VLC. Just using the default HD 1080-24p YUV. Need to make sure that the client can open it!

It sounds like the same problem I had a while back and it was related to Nero upgrade

So I uninstalled Nero and now all OK

Hm, I don't have Nero installed but thanks.

Anyone have any other thoughts?

Ray, in the for-what-it's-worth department, I rendered a file out to .avi and I can't get it to play either.

There is also an ".avi.sfl" file along with it. I don't recall seeing that before. What is it?

Should I not be using Sony YUV if its for delivery for HD Broadcast? Hm and grrr.

Ray, try the Sony MXF HD 422 1920x1080-24p 50Mbps. They should be able to deal with easily enough.

The avi.sfl file is created by Vegas when you render. I think it may have to do with audio, in the same way that .sfk file are used, but I have no idea. I don't think its of any significance once rendering is complete.
