repair drop-outs

When I import an image (edited in a paint program) and then drag it from the Media pool to the track, its default Pixel aspect ratio is 1.000 (Multimedia) (under track Properties > Media). Is there a way to change that default to 0.9091 (NTSC DV)?

The reason I ask is because I'm repairing drop-outs: I save the damaged frame as an image file, save the neighboring frames as image files, use the two good images to repair the bad one, and then import it and overlay on the damaged frame. At this point, the imported frame has the wrong aspect ratio--it is only 0.9091 times as wide as it should be. It takes FIVE mouseclicks to change its aspect ratio so the new frame matches the dimensions of the rest of the track.

If there's no way to change the default pixel ratio, are there other ways to achieve what I need?

Thanks!

try changing the media pixel aspect ratio and then click the the save button next to stream properties- new stills with identical size/type should pick up the new pixel aspect you have defined.
