Ugh. I've spent hours editing and finishing a project only to find out I didn't use the optimal source file format. Is there any way to keep the project intact except to swap out the different files (identically named except the extension)?
Yes, you move the folder away, you re-create the folder name with the new source files, but you change the source file names with the old extensions/names. This will fool Vegas that these are the same files as before, but they aren't. Also make sure you have the right project settings after switching out the files (use "match media").
Hmmm, something went wrong and the program kept asking to specify the new file. After I got them all specified, it crashed.
Oh well. I'll start the next project right--this is a steep leaning curve!
BTW, I've never been able to find "match media" on Sony Vegas Platinum, which is what I'm using. There wasn't a forum just for Platinum, so I posted my question about replacing clips here.
