I here by request that a new forum be created to support all VV5 users. We who still use VV4 can't seem to catch the post concerning VV4.
It would seem that VV5 is very different from VV4 and the topics will just over crowd the Vegas Video forum.
Ok point out the simlar things and then point out the new and different things. Plus the new plug-ins, DVDa2 questions and the UI questions.
Besides this new version is ALL Sony this time, not SoFo as with VV3 to VV4. Other forums do break down in to version so thats why I'm asking.
As for the DVDa forum ver 1.0 does nothing and ver 2 does it all I see little need for support of ver 1
The Vegas Video and Audio forums receive posts from users of all versions all the way back to 1.0. Any time there's a new version of a program the board is going to be flooded with posts (praise, complaints, problems, etc.) but the rush will pass and indeed already shows signs of slowing down somewhat.
Keep in mind that Sony has a vested interest in encouraging all users to upgrade, so are extremely unlikely to set up boards for older versions.
As for the differences, apart from the (despite certain posts) subtle changes in appearance, the product info page details the new/improved features. There are numerous other little things that you discover while using it, but nothing that would make the program alien to you.
On top of that, so far it's proven to be rock-solid in my experience--pretty good for a new release.

Don’t feel bad. We who use Vegas 5 can’t seem to catch the “real” post concerning V5 amongst all the whining about UI colors and how there’s not enough new stuff worth upgrading. How then can you justify a new forum if there’s not enough new stuff to upgrade? You can’t have it both ways.
New forums fragment users. Pinnacle does this and it hurts them because the senior people upgrade and move to the new forum and those that they leave behind could still be learning from them if only they shared the same forum. The old forums become graveyards of disgruntled users. IMHO, it’s a bad idea.
I agree with Nat and planders, just wait for the buzz to dissipate and the whiners to get over it so we can get on with business again. I’ll bet 90% of the questions will be relevant to both versions.

Right On!!!!
I agree with keeping the forums as is. What I find, is users of older versions will come in with questions or trying to achieve something not available in their current version. I've helped many users that have older versions, that this has been added in a newer version and they are thankful, I pointed that out to them. Otherwise they come in and get frustrated, and there's no one there that has the newer version to point them in the right direction. So the end result is the person asking the question get's their answer, and a possible upgrade sale is made, where everyone benefits from further success of newer releases.
