Requesting Comments on Canon's GL2 Digital Video Camera

I've been eyeing Canon's GL2 Digital Video Camera as my FIRST (ever) purchase of such device. I've read the specs on Canon's web page. Seems good to me.

Looking for feeback. How's the digital video quality? How's the connectivity with a computer and VV3? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Can I change lenses ? (It's a little unclear as to whether or not this can be done.)

Hope to be purchasing this camera within the next month or so. It's my "big step" into the computer-based video editing world. My computer set-up is a follows:

Dell Precision Workstation 420 -
Pentium III 733
512 MB DDRAM
2 Hard Drives (set to Ultra DMA type 2 mode) both 7200 RPM (The "C" drive for programs, the "D" drive for audio/video)
Matrox G400 video card
Windows XP Pro
Vegas Video 3
Texas Insturment OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 card (that came with Dell computer - Plan on upgrading this component.)

Thank you ahead of time for your time and attention.

Ted, first no interchangeable lens on GL, only XL does that, second the GL's 20x should do fine. You read some reviews of it and the Sony TRV-950 both are 3-ccd and have great color. Canon has fewer features but is a better "on the go" camera. What I mean to say is the canon makes filming action much easier.
As for where to buy - I would first look locally, buying online makes "buyer beware" start flashing in BIG red letters. Abe's Of Maine got me good, so check BBB before you do any thing. You could very well end up with a PAL camera rather than a NTSC.

Got the UK version XM2 - Brilliant cammy. Big leap for me. But now I know what quality means. I'm a VF user and the interation with VF is spectacluar. The XM2 suffers a bit fron low light, but again a small in-fill top light does it for me. The "reds" are a bit saturated, until I reconfigure the viewing medium - ie TV set or monitor. It has many option presets and customisable options. Hunter go look on the www.DVinfo.net for the Son of Watchdog GL2/XM2 site - Loads of feedback about the cammy. Good supportative forum. Really go look at it!

The 20x OPTICAL zoom is terrific

Thanks for the comments! B & H Audio/Video in NYC is offering an incredibly low price for the GL2! I'm psyched!
