resetting "stretched event" to 0%

I think this one will be an easy one. When I stretch an event while trimming (using Ctrl+drag edge of event), the only way I found to reset the event to it's neutral length (length event was before any stretching) was using the same method - CTRL+ drag edge of event - until the the wiggly line goes away. And it seemed like when I first started doing that, I had a % icon that appeared that indicated when the clip was at 0% - so it seemed that must be the way you reset the clip.

Now, in the same project, when I tried to apply the same method to a event that had the audio ungrouped and deleted, I don't get the % inidcator. That makes it harder to reset an event back 0%.

So my question is did ungrouping the audio cause Vegas to stop displaying the % indicator of a time stretched clip ? Or did I somehow do something unkowingly that caused the % indicator not to appear on time stretched events ? (I will experiment a bit more to try to find what I did, but just thought if I had done something (stupid) to change a setting, someone might have a quick explanation for me)

And maybe anything on a better way of resetting a time stretched clip bacl to 0% than using the ctrl _ drag of event. I really thought that right clicking the focused event would give me the option to reset it - saw that I could reverse an event, which is kind of like a trime stretch, but that nor the the insert/remove envelope velocity seem to help set it back to 0%.

Thanks

Right-mouse-button click on the event, choose properties / media. You'll see a playback speed showing how fast you've got it set to play. Note that this value is a factor rather than a percentage. Change it to 1.000 to go back to normal speed.

Note that this won't change the duration on the timeline. It will still be as long as it was before as the end of the event won't move. However, the frame of the video that now occurs at the end will be different. You'll have to trim or extend the end of the event to get it back to the length you want.

If you hadn't previously trimmed the event but had used the entire clip, Vegas will display a little white triangle at the top edge of the event where the end of the clip occurs. You can drag the cursor to that triangle and it will snap there. If you had sped up the event then you'll have to extend the end to get to that triangle, but the same thing still applies. Your mouse will *snap* to that position when you get there.

Thanks Kelly. That helps. That is a bit strange to me that you can't get a trmmed clip back to it's initial trimmed status by going back to 1.0, I set some markers on the trimmed event and then stretched it and reset it, and it looks like a reset to 1.0 leaves the beginning marker at the beginning - so it's just a matter of triming the clip back - but that just seems strange that it doesn't go back to it's original length. Oh well.

BTW, the properties "tag" is "video event" for resetting playback rate. Just wanted to point that out if someone was looking for it under "media".

I still don't know why I lost the % icon when dragging the event during a stretch. Still want to get that icon back - not sure why, just seems like it's a nice thing to know. I tried it on both a video only and a grouped video/audio - and I still don't get the % reading any more. And I am sure it was there during a preivious edit session.
