Resolution

Occasionally I want to increase the resolution on a file in project media and on the video track. I go back to the original file and change the resolution, say from 72 to 350. Then when in explorer on Movie Studio, I hit the refresh button. Does this change the file only in Explorer mode or does it also change what is in Project Media and on the Video track.

What is the best resolution setting that will be effective on the screen?

Thanks

DPI is irrelevant. It makes absolutely no difference in video at all. What you did had no effect whatsoever. There is no best resolution setting because it doesn't matter.

On the other hand, frame size does make a difference, for example, 640x480 will be twice as sharp as 320x240. In order to see some benefit from this though both the original media must have the larger frame size, and you must render to a video file with a larger frame size. An image with 3200x2400 frame size won't look any better than one with 320x240 if you render to a 320x240 file. Also, rendering to 1024x768 won't look any better if the original image was only 160x120.
