Resolution problem for slide show

Hi Everyone - My project consists of all stills, that were scanned at various resolutions. When I render as avi and play on Mediaplayer, the video and audio for the whole project is choppy and flickers. If I reduce the rendered resolution to 320 x 240, the flickering is gone but I'm not happy with the quality. I've tried defraging and shutting off TSR's but nothing helps. I've tried scanning at higher resolutions (600 dpi), that doesn't seem to help either. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks - John

Is DMA enabled? This is done in the device manager on the properties of either the drive itself or the IDE channel depending on which version of Windows you're using. Even though you're doing a slide show, thirty frames are still being rendered for each second of video.
