I bought "VEGAS 4 Editing Workshop", which was recommended by several people. I think that it has good information overall, but it really is a book for people that have already a lot of knowledge about video and audio editing. Can anyone recommend where to get information about all the terms used and how to select settings. For instance, the book mentions things like graphic EQ or expressFX delay, but doesn't explain any of them. I'm having more trouble with the audio functions than I am with the video functions. The plug-in boxes pop up and I don't have a clue what to put the settings at. I want to understand what all these effects and edits and plug-ins do and how to use them. Thanks

Okay, try adding an Audio Fx in Vegas, and then search the Oline Help. There's loads of info avaiable to you. I've just done this and alot of items are explained - really!

Try adding and fooling around with the settings. You will hear how things are being adapted. Try some stuff out, then come back and quizz us with "specific" queries - yeah? Plenty of Audio-Heads here to assist - but make a specific request first. My guess you're asking to "broad" a question. Yup, I've done the same.

Best regards,

Grazie

Hope I'm not insulting your intelligence here. Go have the PDF Vegas manual printed and bound at Kinko's. Lots of solid basics in there.

"My guess you're asking to "broad" a question. "

Nope....he is asking a software questions!!

(Sorry...couldn't resist).

Speaking as one who has done a good deal of audio work with SoFo products....(Yeah!! I know I said SoFo!!)..... Grazie is right. You just need to get in there and get your feet wet with trying out different things and seeing what type of sound it produces.

And then geetting the PDF Manual printed and bound is another great idea. Great to have it at finger tips for research.

But...I wouldn't get too down on yourself for not knowing what some of the terms mean. Heck, I"ve been doing audio editing with SoFo products for many years now and still have no clue what reverb means!!! All I know is it sounds a certain way and when I want that sound - I go to that reverb thingie!!
