Right click the clip/event and select "Insert Velocity Envelope"
Then drag the envelope's values to -100 and you'll have your backwards motion.
there are 2 tutorials on this at http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/help/kb

Hi. Is there any way to lock a velocity envelope value to a particular time in the video? For example, if I insert a velocity envelope and set the speed to reach zero when a ball hits the ground, it seems that any further change made to that envelope will shift the envelope zero point in time, relative to the ball bounce. It would be very useful if I could lock the 2 things together but so far I haven't found a way to do it. Is it possible?

Thanks,

One method is to render a "raw" version of the event - with the envelope in the right place, add it to the timeline and do you further changes from there.
The problem (I think) is that your changes may well alter the relation between time and event. I can't see how the envelope could know which one it should hang on to.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it would be good if maybe you could lock the critical keyframe points to the event timecode, and then let the software adjust any unlocked points and also the envelope curve shape as necessary to make it all fit together. I realise there are probably some limits to this, but maybe it could be done if the number of locked points allowable is constrained? Just a thought.

I usually render my clip reversed then re-import it. I've found that easier for me to work with (plus not long to render! )
