Vegas 3 or Vegas 4? If in Vegas 3, right click and select Properties/resample. In V4, right click, properties/FORCE resample. This should fix the problem.

If you are running at 100% reverse, you may try reversing the fields (i.e. if the clip is lower field first which is normal, tell it it is UPPER field first).

Would this event be an avi file or another format?

This is for AVIs - I'm making visuals for musicians ans smoothness is of paramount importance. I've managed to get stretched clips smooth using the "resample" function, but am not having any success in reversing (if anyone has any other ideas for creating smooth, "seamless" loops, I'm open to suggestions! I will try reversing field order.

Resample, with render setting to Best. That's about all there is. If you had V4, you could supersample it, but I'm getting great reverse normal motion in Vegas 3 and 4 after just checking this. Switching fields, blending fields, all work fine/equally well for me. I'd never tried normal motion, only slow reverse, but it's fine for me. Wondering what else you've maybe got going. Rendering to NTSC-DV? Template? Using Best instead of Good? Resample applied, that's about all I can suggest.

I'm rendering at best setting, pal DV, no compression. I normally achieve stunning results with these settings. Having Resampled it, it is better, but at the "turnaround" point it still stutters! For the moment I've given up looping like this in favour of short x-fades, building up a smooth, slow background with 3 similar clips, but I'd really like to crack this problem! I guess Vegas4 is an essential upgrade?
