Its a good review, but you say very little about the capture tool, which appears to be virtually identical to the capture tool in version 3. I'd really like to see video level and audio level monitoring in the capture tool. I'm not suggesting that the capture tool should be able to alter the video/audio levels, just monitor them. Many DV videos, such as professional SONY DVCAM kit, allow the audio and video playback levels to be altered, to correct for recording faults, and having an all-in-one capture and level monitoring solution would be a great plus point for getting Vegas into professional situations.
As I said in the opening of the review, I chose to focus on the new features of Vegas 4. It's really more of a "first look" than a comprehensive review. You're right, the capture tool seems to be identical to version 3, so I didn't dwell on it.
FWIW, my DV deck has audio level indicators, so while I agree it would be a handy feature, I didn't notice it.
I think what I really want to see tested is the ability of the DVD Architect program to create a 2 hour video at a relatively high bitrate with AC3 encoding, but I guess that will have to wait.
I have the beta of DVD Architect, but haven't had a chance to test it out. Maybe in the next week or two, if I can clear the time, I may do a review of it.
Got some projects (actual video editing!) to finish first!
