RGB Parade - how should it look?

The following is a sample of how an RGB Parade looks on one of my videos. Assuming it's wrong, what's the best way to correct it?

I've played with adjusting color curves, contrast/brightness, and color corrector, but still wondering how it should normally look on this screen.

As impressive as those efforts are they're even further from the original, quite commendable, intent of how it was shot.

What I'm seeing is someone who had a great idea, make it look bright, cheery, a place parents would see as somewhere their children would be comfortable in.

For some reason it just didn't work, not for me at least. TBH I cannot really figure out why it didn't work. I suspect it has something to do with the skin tones.

All the efforts, including my own, to fix it in post, lose what it was meant to be.

I don't see my comments in anyway as "damning", it is an observation. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong and why.

I'm also myself still struggling with the question of how to shoot this and get it to work. If you know the answer it'd help me and I'm certain it'd help the OP.
