Ripple Effects & Cutting

OK, so now I have a great 30 minute video completed. I want to create a shortened version of it, and have changed the name of the project.

1) How do I cut still images or videos from the video track and have all the following events on ALL the other tracks ripple? The scenario is that I'm cutting a video overlay and a video event in an area where I do not have any music, voice or sound effects. Yet, later in on the time line I have all of these.
I have tried the time selection tool and that does not appear to work across all tracks if there is no event in a particular track within that time selection.

2) When I cut an event, is there anyway to get the same transition to appear on the event that rippled in its place automatically?

Thanks in advanced for your help!!!!

For 1) Make sure ripple edit is on. Then create a loop region of the area you want to cut and press the delete key. Everything in the region will be deleted and everything to the right will fill in its place across all tracks.

Don't know about 2)

I don't believe VF does # 2), at least I've never been able to do it. However, the new Vegas 4 beta has that functionality, so there is hope that future version of VF will have enhanced ripple functionality.
