RME, anyone? Opinions *please*

Alright, now that Gadget Labs is offically dead, and I cant
get support for my failing audiocard, and I want to do
things right this time.

Im looking at the RME Hammerfall series, and was wondering
if anyone has had good/bad/ugly experiences with them in
general or under Vegas?

I'm open to other options, but I've already invested in
outboard converters, so I'd like to stay away from
Digi001/Delta1010 and others like them. The Dakota looked
interresting (From Frontier Design) but they dont offer
Win2k drivers, which I need for my dual processor setup.

Any Vegas users out there using Hammerfall setups?

Hi Matt,

I use an RME hammerfall 96/52 card with Vegas. Very happy with it, I
run thru a swissonic A/D as well as a Digital Mixer with A/D's, using
the wordclock output to master my A/D's (both Swiss and Digital
mixer).
Runs great on 2 cpu's , I generally multi track from 16 to 24 tracks
with out a glitch. Make sure you get the 1.3 driver for win2k from
RME.

Thanks a ton for the input George! This is pretty close to the setup
I have (save the RME). I just wanted some real people's input rather
than web/sales hype. I'm glad you're happy with it, and maybe now I
can start making some music.

Hi Matt,

I've been using RME DIGI96 cards for a little while on W98SE with
zero problems. Their driver includes a control applet that sits in
the tray next to your clock, click on it, and you can adjust
parameters.

The last one I bought was the DIGI96PRO, which includes a very useful
headphone output, with level control on the applet.

I've purchased from www.jdsound.com (US) and www.sfb.net
(Netherlands), no problem with either.

Regards,
