RME hammerfall, Vegas Audio?!

I'm trying to work out which sound card to get.. but it needs to be futureproof: what's the situation with the WDM drivers on the RME Hammerfall?
I'm guessing Vegas 3 will depend on WDM.

The other card I was considering was the MOTU 828 firewire.

I just want a card that won't become redundant in a few months. I need 16 ins / outs and at least 8 of those need to be digital so I can hook up external A/D converters...

Hi,

The Hamerfall is one of the very best audio cards, and a good price/value.

I use this card with Vegas Video 2, with 6 ms of latency, and set the Vegas donw to 80 ms of playback buffer without any glich or drop, and a very best use of CPU (is not a CPU hungry device) with all of the channels record at the time (24).

I use Windows 2000.
