Rolling credit right to left......

Jerfilm wrote on 5/17/2012, 1:12 PM
I think maybe I'm dumb. I want to put a small rolling "creeper" across the bottom of the screen. It seems to work sort of OK if the message is no bigger than the screen size, but this one is longer than that. Is it possible to do this? Or is there some other way? I tried doing it with just text and a pushing transition but the problem is the same - if the text is longer than the screen is wide, it gets cut off.

Help!!!

You need to manually do a line break.

Use the tools in the Placement tab and keyframe it.

Yep, with the ordinary text tool and keyframing placement i've been able to add creepers that are extremely long, like something that takes several minutes at a normal reading pace.

Fixing typos in such a long string is a pain!

For simple text edits try Google Doc.

More complex edits I use Open Office Writer. (free)

Byron, Kelly (Chienworks) is referring to fixing a typo in a long string after it's in the Vegas text media generator. The only way is to scroll (and scroll and scroll) through it until you find the problem word(s).

I keep typed credits in an OpenOffice.org file then copy/paste to Vegas. Fixing typos then is easy. :)
