Hi everyone,
Thanks for taking time. I embarked on a project before being well versed on the software and operation of. I can render my finished product but not burn it to DVD. I can take an individual scene and it will burn correctly. The message I get is an error has ocurred but it is an unknown error. I also used Adobe Master Suite Premier Pro first. Same thing it would render for about 30 hours then not burn. It displayed an error message as well. So....this must mean thnat the operator is missing a setting and really lost. I am using Movie studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack on a Athlon 64 2 Ghz, 1.25 ram, Laptop.I can burn DVDs using WinDvd creator just fine but it doesn't have color correction. Any help would be great. If this is viewed on 2-2-09 I will be at 440 667-7933 on Monday till 4:30 EST and on Tuesday 2-3-09 all day. I guess I just need some to walk me through it. I know that is a lot to ask but I'm sure someone out there has had the same problem.

First, install DVDA. It is part of Vegas Plat, but it is a separate programme so you need to install it separately.
In Vegas, render your movie to the mpeg2 format, using the Mainconcept codec. Use the appropriate template.
Then start DVDA. Locate your mpeg2 file and drag it to the menu screen.
Hit 'make movie'. DVDA will prepare a directory, which will be pretty fast, and then burn the dvd, which will take about 12 minutes. Done.

Thank you, but I don't know what DVDA is. I looked on the disc, I still have no idea.

DVD Architect is bundled with Vegas Movie Studio. It comes as a separate program, so you need to install it. You use it to desing your dvd menu and to burn the dvd.
You should have serial numbers for both programs.

What size is your rendered movie? Seems to me your movie doesn't fit on a dvd.

First of all, I need to properly thank you for your help.....Thank you. Second, you may have hit on something. I'm looking at some file sizes on my individual scenes in the explorer page on top and timeline on the bottom. I am running test projects to see when it hits the fan. I'm able to burn a couple of scenes but not the whole thing.The files are huge and possibly exceed the DVD. Is there a compression setting to compensate?

It's about 1 hour 37 minutes but I haven't checked the rendered size. I still am getting used to this program. I was using Adobe Master Suite CS3 and had the same problem. It's render times made it impossible to do tests. It would render for about 36 hours. I noticed it rendered frames very slow. I bought this one thinking it would save me. Now I am really behind.

If your harddrive is formatted FAT32, there is a size limit of 4GB. I think your rendered file is larger. You must split your project in two parts and render them separately. The easiest way for you will be to select half of it and 'render selection only'. Then render the other half. You can then burn the two parts on one dvd.
I must say that 1:37 is stretching the capacity of a dvd. Normally, you put about 1 h on one single layer dvd. DVDA does have the function 'fit on disc' so it is possible.

You rock!!!! There are so many little things that can go wrong. You have spent so much time and cured my problem. I have a better understanding now. I bet my adobe problem is the same due to size.
