Rotoscoping help please

Hey, I'd like to thank all you guys who helped me out with my last question...anyways, i have a question about rotoscoping. In Vegas 5 how can i make like a custom rotoscope thing. I've been using the "cookie cutter" and that just dosn't help me out to much, i need to make like custom shapes with it. Well...i'll do some research but i'd also like a little help from here. Thanks again everyone. Later

P.S. I'm having a pretty hard time with the wax plug-in, it just gives me a bunch of headaches...but it's still kinda cool.

William,
Perhaps the new V5 bezier curves in masks can support what you want to do?

Using Cookie Cutter to do rotoscoping will take forever and probably only be partially successful. You cannot make custom shapes.

If you have the time, you can use the bezier masks and use a lot of keyframes.

You should ask questions about Wax in the debugmode.com forums. The developer does read these forums though.

Whatever hassles you have with it though, you should remind yourself that rotoscoping software will usually cost $1,000 and up.

Wax is nice. While it may have occasional hiccups, it's pretty cool, it's FREE, and the author seems very responsive about answering questions here and at debugmode. Unless you've got a lot of cash and want to buy a lot of expensive tools(Vegas+DVD put a series dent in my finances), you have to take what you can get, like VirtualDub, Wax, and Media Player Classic. And you might be surprised; some of this stuff is quite good!

P.S. Good luck with the Bezier curves.
