Rough Render Settings (.avi codec?)

I have an 18 Minute piece with 7 Video Layers.

I want to render a rough cut avi version so i can import it into my sound program.

I was wondering which .avi Codec would be best for this, and would take the shortest amount of time. Since its not the full-res render, I don't want it to take 5+ hours....

Thanks...

Shortest amount of time would be to render as draft mode at half size using the Sony codec/default. IF your composition/sound app can manage that. Anything else, including wmv, will take a while. Transcoding to anything will likely take the most time.
You can also simply bypass all FX and it will render more quickly, lightning fast if the media is DV originally.

Reducing the frame rate will help enormously too. I often render this sort of file at 15, 10, or even 6fps. Usually the result is sufficient for timing the music and a 6fps render will go nearly 5 times faster than a 29.97fps version. Disabling resampling is also a big help.
