Round project Icons vs. Rectangular Icona Vegas Pro 20

Hi - I notice that some of my project files in Vegas 20 have a round Vegas Pro icon and some have a rectangular icon. The projects with the round icon seem to be problematic i.e. in most cases when I open the project – there is no media or edits there. What is going on with this? Thank you for your help. p.s. I'm using a Lenovo laptop to edit on windows 11.

VEGAS Pro 20 has a round icon. VEGAS Pro 21 has a rectangular icon.

What are the file extensions on these files? All VEG files should have the same icon.

Vegas Pro 18 has a rectangular icon.

I have a different icon for Vegas Pro 14. The one you showed is my MSP13.

You could use a different <.veg> icon to something different if you wish, I use "Default Programs Editor" to change icons, file type descriptions, context menus, ect.

@jetdv @mark-y

Those are desktop shortcut icons, I think the OP @david-g6114 is getting mixed up with Project files & BAK files,

These are VP18 - 20 project files.

@Gid But he can't have two Vegas default versions. All project icons adopt the shape of the current default editor, no matter what they were created with.

Gid wrote on 5/30/2024, 11:26 AM

@mark-y Yes I understand that, all those in my picture were created by the version I named them as, I have VP21 as default . I posted that picture above to show just that - "All project icons adopt the shape of the current default editor"

But the round ones do have .veg in the name, the hidden extension is .bak, i.e. - My Project.veg.bak

---------

BTW my default was set to VP19 for whatever reason 🤷‍♂️ I don't open projects by that icon, I've changed it to VP21 as Default, the project icon now has a shadow on the folded corner but my comment still stands, I think he is getting the BAK & the 'VEG File' mixed up

Simply put, the .bak files are currently associated with VP 20 in Windows right now while Windows associates the .veg files with VP 21. Currently the installer/VPro app will only change the associations of .veg files. If you want to change the association of .bak files, you will need to make that change in Windows.

@VEGASDerek Thanks, I just also changed my BAK files to open with VP21, I now have sq icons for both
