Roxio Convert In Need Of Advice

Really fed up with Rx. Was running 7.0 and due to my use of Windows explorer 7 I could no longer use DVD builder program. Thought this would be an opportune time to leap from what has been buggy software since they took over from Adaptec.

Like what I've seen so far but I have a quesation. Roxio would let me edit an mpeg file and save it as a production file without creating a new mpeg. I could then import the production into the DVD production without creating a brand new mpeg on my drive. This does not seem to be the case with the SVMS+DVD Platinum 7.0.

It seems as though I cannot import the saved edit file unless I create a new mdeia file. Am I missing something? This will make for a lot of HD clutter as I prefer leaving the original file intact. I like the idea of the program rendering it's DVD image from the original file via the edited production file...

You're not missing anything. That's how it works. If it really bothers you, surf over to debugmode.com and download the frameserver - then you can render to an intermediate AVI file that's actually "in memory" (you'll have VMS outputing to the pseudo-AVI file and DVDAS will be reading from the pseudo-AVI file.

Yes, that's how it works. Being a recent Pinnacle Studio convert, it bothered me too that I had to create a new file with my edits/transitions. However, given the dramatic stability advantage VMS has over P Studio, I'm glad to use up some extra disk space.

We could get into the whole mpeg vs AVI editing debate, but I'll stop and say I use AVI files and render to AVI before using it in Architect Studio.
