I'm going to be using some royalty free music I recently purchased from Digital Juice on a short I'm making. At the end when listing music credits, what do I put? Thanks
I don't know about what Digital Juice wants as far as credit, but some companies ask that you DON'T list them in the credits, for fear of reprisal (such as boycotts, etc). Your best bet is to contact DJ and ask them to send or fax you some kind of release stating what they need from you. Safe is best.
LV - yeah, I did go there before I asked the question . . went there again, as per your link . .but I still can't see where I can "sample" what they offer . .
DJ's BackTraxx are okay, but pretty "safe" for the most part.
As for the music, you can list yourself as "Music Coordinator" or "Music Director," or just "Music By." One thing you can do is check and see how music is credited in films that involve actual songs. You're not claiming to have "written" the music.
As a "buyout" producer myself, I have a real hard time with people who sell you "royalty free" music and then want credit if you use it. That blows the whole deal. The beauty of royalty-free and buyout is that you buy it once and use it whenever, wherever without worrying about it.
Yer know I'd seen boxes of stuff out there and thought, "Nah, not for me . .it'll be really dated and non-creative . . " Was I ever wrong!
2 points here:
1 - It appears to be really free from the copyright issues.
2 - My creativty just hit Warp drive! - Okay, a bit Cart before the horse here, but as I was listenning to the samples - nice website, well organised and very fast indeed - I was thinking of what videos I could make "against" the music I was hearing!!! Phhoaarrh . . . PLUS, there appears to be alot of stuff I could use in the work I'm doing and am wanting to do in the future. I do feel very released and freed-up . ..
Liam, thank you, you may never know how this has affected me, just take my owrd for it . . I listened to some of the other atmospheric work .. IMHO, it's very good . .
There is some great '70s Retro which I can already see a film coming out of. I can also some of the corporate work I could be doing too!
Just to flag up my "range" these are really worth hearing:
Wonder Something 2:20 - I think this is very beautiful!
A Bit Like B.B. 2:55 - blusey, great stuff!
I guess my plastic could just stretch to a purchase . . . Gotta job inb Feb . . maybe this is the excuse - yeah?
Wonder if the UK distrib of DG will be having any "show deals" at Febs Video Forum at Wembley? . . hmmm I think I'll call them today . . hah!!!
I've used some stuff from FreeplayMusic in the past. At first I thought I wouldn't get the quality that I was looking for but I was wrong, check it out!
Yeah. I've had BackTraxx for a while and just did backgrounds for about 40 min of soundless video. The majority came from this library and I am very happy with it. I used Acid too for some parts, but enjoyed the time savings in having fully produced cuts in BackTraxx and a big enough selection to find options.
Some of the PBTM discs are good too.
We've had these discussions several times before about Royalty Free music. A search should find lists of good suggestions for buyout music or loop libraries. That is what pointed me to the stuff I bought.
