Hi

Volume envelopes seems to affect the whole track, regardless of me selecting only a short section.

Thanks

I'm guessing that you're coming from another NLE as that's the way Vegas does it.

Ken, a volume envelope will let you change volumes over time by adding multiple points to that envelope. The Volume Envelope *IS* how you "rubber band" the audio. Look it up in the help file for a full explanation.

Hi and thanks to all. I have copied and pasted the following from the help files

Add envelope points
To create more complex envelopes, you will need to add points. To add an envelope point, double-click the envelope. A new envelope point will be added which can be dragged and positioned as necessary.

When I do the above, all that happens is that the entire video clip is selected. I have seen examples in the help as to what should happen but cant get it to work, and yes, I have come over from another edit suite.

What can I be doing wrong?

Regards

Ken

you might by in the selection or zoom mode; just hit CTRL-D, to select the default mode

Hi

I found that if I

Right click > Insert / Remove Envelope > Volume

then I can either

Right click > Add Point

or

Double click

in order to add points

Many Thanks for the assistance

Regards

V is the shortcut key to add/remove a volume envelope.

If you're adept at realtime or live mixing, the envelope automation can be a real timesaver.

On a long program, I ride gains on the first pass, much like on a conventional mixer, and rarely pause (assuming I know the audio program).

On the second pass, I'll go through and tweak points and levels, and add any I missed. Much easier than a manual guess-and-check workflow.
