Run out of memory during render?

Recently installed another gig of ram and started to run out of memory about half way through the render. After much messing around realized that the page file upper limit was not readjusted. Set it to 4000 and wallah! No more problems.

Right click "My computer". Right click" properties". Click "advanced".
Click performance "settings". Click "advanced". Click virtual memory "change". Highlight drive. Change upper and lower values.
Click set. Reboot.

Was this on a W98 machine? I read something about this in the current PC Magazine. Or was it PC World...
