RUNDLL error dialogue upon startup - anyone else?

Hello all,

I've had this error on two Windows XP machines with versions 5.0, 5.0a, and 5.0b. While starting up, I receive an error dialogue with "RUNDLL" in the header and reading:

"Error loading c:\PROGRA~1\Sony\Vegas"
"The specified module could not be found."

I'm presuming there is a .dll file at the end of the truncated first line. Any thoughts?

Michael

Kind of a lame suggestion, but how about trying a reinstall?

Yep. Done it many times, many ways.

Same results.

Did you turn off 8.3 filenames?

You can find the fix by searching the Knowledge Base for RUNDLL. You'll find it under the Support menu at the top of the page.

Thanks for the tips, SonyTSW. I ran through the steps in the Knowledge Base article, including the regedit change and installing DirectX 9.0c. No change. I've initiated a tech support query.
