Running second instance of V4 = instant reboot

Might this be related to my ASIO drivers? I opened a second V4 just to copy some clips back to my original instance. I didn't play anything, just highlighed and pressed Ctrl-C. The moment I closed the second instance so that the first regained focus, bam, I was rebooting. No blue screen. It's the first time I've seen that happen since I bought this computer a year-and-a-half ago.

So I tried again. This time it didn't reboot when the first instance took focus. It let me paste the clips to the timeline. But as soon as I hit play, there I was rebooting again. Unfortunately, it also damaged my .veg file so it wouldn't open anymore. I was glad for the .bak.

I have Windows XP, all the latest patches, WamiRack 192X with the 4.0 driver they recently released. And I am using the ASIO drivers in Vegas. It's no emergency since I can copy clips by openening and closing projects in a single Vegas.

Doesn't help solve the core problem, but maybe the rebooting is caused by you having Windows configured to reboot on occurrence of an error?

Hi Jason,

You might check hardware display accelleration, it has been known to crash Vegas unless turned off.

Jason:

Was this with the beta or the released version? There was a problem just like that with ASIO in the beta.

This is the release version. I had the beta but uninstalled it before installing the release.

I do have my system set to reboot on failure but it's also supposed to dump memory and write an entry to the system log. I don't see a memory dump or any pertinent errors in the system log. It seemed to reboot instantly.

I do have hardware acceleration enabled on a GeForce4 Ti 4200, though this wasn't a problem under V3. The only setting changed for my use of V4 is the ASIO driver.
