Of all the places and times in history we could have been put, I myself am pretty thankful to be where I am, in America, not Haiti pulling rotted meat out from under a wagon. I for one, would not want you to move, but I can't help but think there are millions (billions?) who would gladly take your place. What has impressed me so much about this forum is that there seems to be a sense of tact and respect no matter what the issue. Three long posts in a row followed by a three word response and your the only one who's angry. We could get political talking points anywhere. Forums are meant to be nearer the barber shop than the boxing ring.

Regarding the US economy, it is roaring along right now and with nearly full employment.

Surely you jest!

again, I get CC card offers ALL the time. I just rip them up & throw them out. No reason anyone else can't do the same.

And people aren't racking up debt saving grandma's life, they're racking up debt buying HDTV's, going to fancy dinners & buying big house's. People do that themselves.

And I don't blame any company for any problems I have. Gas goes up? I dont NEED a SUV and I don't NEED to use gas to heat my house. FCC makes analog TV broadcast go away? I don't NEED an HDTV, I can just not watch TV. People just whine to much about everything & don't take responsolbity for their own lives. They expect someone else to take care of them.

And yes, I owuld suffer because of other's mistakes. Poland got invaded & then turn communist and they didn't bother anyone. Thousands of people suffered in the 20's because the richer people decided to buy everything on credit & have no actual cash to back it up. Everyone suffers when the people in general make things fubar. :(

Back on subject . . .

When I went to mainland China in February '05, people were selling pirated DVD's right out in the open in all the shopping areas, right in front of the police. Stores several stories tall were full of knockoff watches, computers, cellphones, and I'm sure there's even more going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.

I managed to buy one genuine article in the markets in western China although I'd have been happier if it wasn't genuine. Who would have though that for a few Aussie dollars I'd get a real fur hat. I thought for sure I'd never get it back into Australia but it turned out the species isn't threatened, unlike most of the other furs that were on sale.
I really don't know if the huge amount of pricay of IP in China is such a big deal, so long as it all stays in China that is. If the local women can fool themselves into believing they're wearing Channel #5 so what, it'll be decades before they can afford the real deal. What is kind of interesting though is how it works on another level, the pirates are spreading western culture and yet much of the piracy is run by the upper ranks of the Red Army, Mao would not be happy.

"again, I get CC card offers ALL the time. I just rip them up & throw them out. No reason anyone else can't do the same."

I do one better, I shred the contents and send them back to the CC company in the postage-paid envelope they provide.
