I just installed a new Edirol UA1000 sound card. When I tell any of my Sonic Foundry apps to playback through it I get an error. The new card uses WDM, ASIO, & MME Drivers. I am running Vegas 3 (waiting for vegas 5) and Sound Forge 5 and CDA 5. Can anyone tell me why this isn't working?
I figured out the error message problem and now have all the apps working to some extent. However I am not able to get the apps to play out of the specific channels I designate. If I keep everything designated to output channel 7&8 all the apps work fine. If I specify any other channel they run and show gain on the master meters on the apps but there is no sound.
You know, if you're going to post questions in these forums and figure out your problem, at least have the common courtesy to tell everyone HOW you fixed the problem, instead of asking another follow up question. This is a USER forum, where other users help one another and we each learn from each others problems and know what to do if we ever run into the same problem. Your posts "whr" are nothing less than selfish. We are not here as your personal tech support. If someone gives you advice, or you figure it out on your own, at least have the courtesy to say "thanks that fixed it", or "here's what I had to do to fix it."
I was a little embarassed because the specific problem I had was too simple. I fixed it by adjusting the sample rate on the card. The edirol has a few features I'm going to have to get used to.
I can now use Sound Forge and CDA5. However, Vegas 3c will not change input and output channels. I also can not do multi channel recording. It allows me to pick specific channels but it does not take effect after I apply them. If I go to the advanced tab in Preferences>Audio it only gives me the option to adjust latency. According to the manual I should have driver options there. The only driver options I can find are under preferences>Audio where I can selct the Audio Device Type. The only options I have are Microsoft Sound Mapper and Windows Classic Driver (which I have selected).
The edirol uses ASIO and WDM drivers and I find no options for those in my Sony apps. What I don't understand is why Sforge 5 and CDA5 work an Vegas doesn't. I am willing to upgrade vegas but I was hoping to wait for v5.
I go to options>preferences>audio and selct audio playback device and audio record device. It gives me all the channell options for my edirol card, but no matter wha I pick nothing seems to change. I've had the best luck using channel 7&8 for playback and channels 1&2 for recording but tha doesn't always work eithr. note: right now I'm dealing only with the master bus.
You do realize that you actually set the routing from the Master bus, not the prefs page?
Still, this has to be either a configuration error or a driver error, otherwise EVERY audio card would exhibit the exact same behavior. I have been unable to reproduce this with any other audio hardware.
I was using a GadgetLabs 824 with win98SE. I upgraded the card in order to upgrade to XP Pro.
I am using the card fine with sonar. I've always used cakewald primarily for midi sequencing and prefer vegas for audio, but the audio is functioning flawlessly with sonar at this point and I'm not even as familiar with it's settings as I am with vegas.
Good to hear. Note that you also have to select the inputs on the tracks as desired. The default port settings are just that, defaults. To override any default routing, you must manually make the assignment.
