same preview problems as others?

I have noticed since the install of V5 that both my preview window as wellas external preview seem to have some hiccups.
even after a selective prerender I notice the preview playback area marked "display" is constantly jumping below 29.97 fps to like 26.554 or 24 fps for a brief moment thruout the time line.(Iread that some were having problems as the cursor moved to the edge of the visible timeline, that does not seem to be my case)
this is with out any other effect than disolves or cuts.
I notice it on ext preview as well.
even if i change the settings in the preview window from best on down.
Is this a similar problem as to what I've read in other posts?
I have not changed anything else on my system except the install of V5, DVDA2 and the Boris Ltd.

Can you play cuts only DV at full framerate? If so, check to see that your prerenders are being saved to the same drive as the rest of your footage- sounds like the prerenders are possibly going to a slower drive (C:<someplace> is the default for all paths when you install fresh).

Thanks for the reply SonyEPM,
My prerender file is going to its own folder in my video drive V: not my C: drive, I did a double check to make sure. I also did a defrag on that disk, when I noticed the problem at first ,just to be sure. It normally is defraged 3x a week anyway but again I thought i would just do the simple basics before anything.
i did notice that my temp file folder was on my o/s program C: drive
I have changed that and will do some tests w/ cuts only and let you know.
Thanks for the help, Love the product !

(add) my system is a 1.8 p4 w/ 512 ram, but I didnt notice this prob. on V4.

ditto with me on a P4 1.7 512 RAM. Even after I render to a new track and disable all the tracks below it I get hiccups. However, I render everyting to wmv, MPEG1 or DVD so for me this is not an issue and I can wait for version 5b. I don't seem to get the same hiccup effect on a P4 2.8 with 1.5 gig RAM though.

ps: I use an internal 7200 for avi and an external 1394 for pre-renders on both these systems.

Is it me? even when I render or selectively prerender I still notice that the preview display is not staying at a steady 29.97 fps sometimes its just the .97 that is jumping around other times it's the total frame rate that goes to 26.xx or 24.xx for breif times ?
I dont recall this on V4 (i even opened up an old V4 project in V4 and I notice its doing it ther too. Does everybody elses do that or after a prerender or render does your display stay rock steady at 29.97 fps.

P.S. I have the project settings set to match the source footage
