Save As

I have Window 11 DeskTop PC and Movie Studio15.

As you know when you make a video you Import Video Clips but then you Cut the Video Clips to the parts you want.

Now if you Save As the Project will be saved to a Folder and at the bottom of the Save As window you can even put a check in Copy Media with Project.

This will Copy the media so you can Delete the source media.

This is good but the media it copies is the full Video Clips you Imported not just the parts you Cut it down to in the Timline.

So let say I have a video clip of a Bird going into a tree but then the tree starts to fall.

I would Import this whole video but in the Timeline just cut it to have the Bird going into the tree and cut the tree falling out of it.

Now if I go to just save the project it will copy the whole video clip even the part with the tree falling.

Even though it only show the part in the Timeline with the Bird going into the tree and this is it.

I know I ask something like this in another post and I chould not find it to as this in it.

You might try upgrading to the current Pro 23 (which will be nearly a decade newer:

From the File menu, choose Save As to save the current project to a different location or with a new name.

From the File menu, choose Save As.

Select the drive and folder where you want to store the project.

Type a name in the File Name box.

Select the Copy media with project checkbox if you want to create copies of each of the project's media files in the same location as the project file. This allows you to collect all of a project's assets in a single location.

Click the Save button.

If you selected the Copy media with project check box, a dialog is displayed to allow you to specify how you want to copy media files:

Select the Copy source media radio button to copy the entire source media files to your project folder.

Any project media files from folders outside the project folder are copied to the project folder. Media files that are saved in folders below the project folder are not copied.

Select the Create trimmed copies of source media radio button and enter a value in the Extra head and tail box to reduce the number and size of media files necessary to represent your project.

Your project will be scanned to determine how much of each media file is being used and those regions will be rendered to new media files. The amount of time specified in the Extra head and tail setting will be added before and after the media file to allow subsequent edits. All events are then updated to point to the new files. Finally, inactive takes are removed from the project, and the project is saved.
